Collection Six

The Sixth Collection in the Mintel Archive contains recordings of concerts by Chicago’s Music of the Baroque under the direction of Thomas Wikman. This Collection highlights the five Italian Baroque operas that Music of the Baroque presented in the late 1990s including Claudio Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo, Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria and L’incoronazione di Poppea.  The Collection also contains two Handel oratorios Samson and Israel in Egypt. Collection Six includes a significant organ recital played by Thomas Wikman at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Boston in 1981 on the now removed Hook & Hastings organ. Also, note the first appearance of the Grand Teton Music Festival in Volumes 12 with a performance of Hector Berlioz’s ~ Requiem with the Mormon Tabernacle choir.
