Collection Two

The Second Collection in the Mintel Archive contains the second WFMT broadcast series of 13 weekly radio programs containing concerts by Chicago’s Music of the Baroque under the direction of Music Director and Conductor, Thomas Wikman.  Most of the volumes in this Collection also contain commentary about the musical compositions, the performance venues and the performers. This series was syndicated and heard worldwide over hundreds of classical music radio stations. The broadcasts were syndicated in 1988 and contain three major Handel oratorios – Saul, L’Allegro and Deborah.  Also included are a delightful piece by J.S. Bach, Cantata 201, the text of which depicts the mythical singing contest between Phoebus (Apollo) and Pan and Bach’s St. Matthew Passion performed in 1985.
